professionals that combine extensive storage, network management,
and enterprise application experience from market-leading technology
companies including Cisco, Brocade, McData, Symantec/VERITAS, EMC, Legato, IBM, Sun,
Nasa/JPL, and Oracle.
Gary Gysin President and CEO
Gary brings over twenty years of software and networking
experience in early stage and established technology companies.
Prior to joining Asempra, Gary was senior vice president of
sales and service at McDATA Corporation where he was responsible
for setting and executing strategies that resulted in exponential
revenue growth through the expansion of strategic partnerships,
customer and channel relationships. Gary also held the role of
vice president and GM Sanera/Nishan while at McDATA. Before
joining McDATA, Gary was the senior vice president of products
at Volera, a majority owned subsidiary of Novell. Earlier roles
at Volera included vice president of product management and business
development. Prior to Volera, Gary held a variety of executive
leadership roles including president and CEO of PGSoft, and vice
president at Crosswise Corporate, WorldTalk and Touch
Communications. Gary holds a B.A. in Economics from the
University of California Santa Cruz.

Siew Sim-Tang Chief Technology Officer, Co-Founder
Siew has over twenty years of software engineering experience spanning
a wide range of industries, from banking, data storage, to computer
networking. Large systems and complex connectivity are a constant and
central theme in Siew's engineering career, characterized by her extensive
experience in legacy architectures and innovative approach to problem
solving. Prior to co-founding Asempra, Siew was the founder and CTO
of Prismedia (later Acirro), where she invented and architected a large
payload distributed system embedded in a WAN file system (GDFS). In the
process, she had authored and filed 16 patents. Prior to founding her
own startups, Siew was an architect at StarQuest, where she built the
CTRC (Cisco Transactional Connection an IBM CICS transaction gateway)
and CDBC (Cisco Database Connection) for Cisco routers. Before joining
StarQuest, Siew had worked at Stanford University's Academic Software
Development Group (where she worked on a distributed multimedia database),
as well as Cisco Systems, GO Corporation, Apple Computer, and POSB Savings
Bank in Singapore. Siew holds a Diploma in Electronics & Communication
Engineering from Singapore Polytechnic, a B.S. in Computer Science from
Arizona State University, and an M.S. Computer Science in Distributed
Systems with focus on Distributed Databases from Stanford University.

Mark Bagby
Chief Financial Officer
Mark is responsible for financial operations and corporate infrastructure at Asempra, as well as legal and human resources. He has held CFO positions with various software, internet, and security companies. Some of these companies include Azuro, Skyfire Labs, netZentry, Sapphire Design, CardoNet, Cyberonix, ATrade, CornerHardware.com. Mark has specialized in numerous emerging stage / high growth companies through advisory and consulting roles. These companies include Exemplary, Simplex, Sequence, Noosh, NetFlix, APPower, InHale Therapeutics, NVIDIA, Radia Communications, CICC, Sibyte and others. With over 25 years of financial experience, Mark has coordinated over $300 million in venture capital/corporate capital financings. Mark holds an MBA from Santa Clara University, an MA in Economics from Tulane University, an MCS from NC Berkeley, and a BS in Economics & Business from Westmont College.

Joseph Wang Vice President of Engineering
With over twenty-five years of Software Development experience in High Tech, Joseph has expertise in leading and delivering innovative products for mission critical systems and applications. Most recently, he was the Sr. Director of Development for Mendocino Software's InfiniView product suite for Data Protection, Recovery, and Replication based on leading edge continuous data protection technology. Prior to joining Mendocino, he served as Sr. Director of Engineering for AppManager, which accounted for over $100M in annual revenue for NetIQ. At NetIQ he drove a new Control Center Architecture, improving AppManager's scalability tenfold and delivering high performance cross-platform solutions in UNIX/Linux environments. He also held senior development roles for Cisco's IOS/VoIP/CAR product line, Bay Networks Optivity NMS, and Fujitsu's NetWalker NMS Platform. Joseph has a B.S. in Engineering from National Taiwan University and a M.S. of Engineering and Telecommunication Certificate from UC Berkeley.

Michael Hughes Vice President of Sales
Michael has been in the technology and software business for 18 years in various
sales and management roles. Prior to joining Asempra, Michael was in a several sales
management roles at McData including general manager, Northern Europe and vice president
of strategic OEM partners. Before joining McDATA, he was director of sales and channels
for Invio, a storage software developer that pioneered the automation segment. His
experience also encompasses several executive positions at Marimba, including vice president
of embedded products and director of business development. At Marimba he was responsible
for building a new business segment in the embedded arena and developing channel and
partner/distributor relationships. Prior to Marimba, Michael held direct sales and account
management roles with IBI, Cincom and Pomeroy Computer Resources. Michael has experience
in building and managing direct and partner sales teams in these roles and he is passionate
about providing customers with real value. He holds a B.S. degree in business from Miami
University and an MBA from the University of Michigan.

Mike Morando Vice President of Business Development
Mike joins the Asempra team with 20 years of Business Development, OEM Sales, and
International Sales experience in the areas of storage, software, and networking.
Most recently Mike was senior vice president of sales at Incipient Inc. where his
team established strong partnerships with HP, IBM, EMC, Hitachi Data Systems, Brocade,
and Cisco. Prior to Incipient, Mike was senior director of Software Alliances at Brocade
(BRCD) responsible for establishing revenue and technology agreements. Prior to Brocade,
Mike was director of sales at Rhapsody Networks (acquired by Brocade) where he established
agreements with OEMs and International distribution channels. Mike began his storage
networking career at Gadzoox Networks where he was senior director of OEM Sales.
At Gadzoox, Mike and his team delivered 80% of Gadzooxs revenues at the time of the IPO.
Mike has also held sales and management roles at Fujikura America, ETOS, and AMP. He holds
a B.S. in Economics from the University of San Francisco where he graduated cum laude.

Michelle Johnson Cobb
Vice President of Outbound Marketing
Michelle is responsible for product and channel marketing, field marketing, PR and marketing communications at Asempra. With over 20 years of experience in product marketing, product management and development, Michelle has focused on identifying new market opportunities and defining go-to-market strategies to drive market share and revenue growth for emerging products. Prior to Asempra, Michelle held executive marketing positions in several computer security, networking, and enterprise software companies, including McAfee, LogLogic, Tumbleweed Communications, and Volera, a subsidiary of Novell. Michelle received an MBA with high distinction from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, and a B.S. Computer Science from the University of Michigan.

Chris Hyrne
Vice President of Product Strategy
Chris brings to Asempra over 25 years of experience in sales, marketing and business development management in the high-tech industry. Prior to Asempra, Chris was VP, Marketing for Topio, Inc.; a provider of data replication and recovery software to the mid-range and enterprise markets. There he led product strategy, product management and outbound marketing operations, leading to the acquisition of Topio by Network Appliance. Previously, Chris served as VP of Marketing for Invio Software; provider of automation software for storage and data management operations. Chris has held numerous executive and consulting positions with several enterprise software companies, including Asera, Prism Solutions, and Taligent Inc. an IBM, HP, Apple joint venture providing object-oriented development and runtime platforms to the enterprise customer.
